About Christian History Magazine Collection
Welcome to Christian History Collection, a selection of articles from Christian History magazine. (For more rich and fascinating articles visit Christian History magazine.)
Our work was begun in 1982 by Christian History Institute (CHI). Our passion is the same now as it was then: to bring the lively and enriching stories of Christian history to a wide audience. This we did first by producing films to present the lives of famous Christians. In order to make the films even more accessible, our team at CHI put together study materials to accompany them. It is these study materials, filled with information on a single topic, that formed the basis for the Christian History magazine. Our first magazine-style issue featured the life of Count Nicolaus von Zinzendorf and the Moravians.
In the beginning CHI released new magazines somewhat sporadically and always in conjunction with related films. It wasn’t long before we realized the magazine deserved a life all its own, with readers wanting more of the high quality, multi-dimensional stories we presented. So, we shifted to publishing a regular quarterly magazine, choosing topics of broad interest and appeal and devoting each issue to a single topic.
In 1989 Christianity Today International brought Christian History magazine under their leadership, as a way to further expand the reach of the publication. Their skill and experience brought a significant increase in terms of the circulation and quality of the magazine for nineteen years. But, as the nature of print has dramatically shifted over recent years, CTI made the difficult choice to cease publication following the 99th issue on “Faith and the American Presidency.” It was at this point that care of the magazine has returned to CHI.
That brings us to our current efforts to revive and restore a great treasure, in a brand new way. We have begun by offering a selection of past articles. But greater things are on the way. Milestone edition #100 has mailed. Through fascinating, informative articles and captivating images it explores the King James Version of the Bible on the 400th anniversary of its release. If you live in the United States, you can sign up to receive print versions of the new magazine.
The Christian History magazine home page also offers an e-magazine version, featuring the same in-depth, thought-provoking history and journalism you’ve grown to expect and love, but in a brand new, interactive style, with features only available in this modern venue!
Along with rich artwork and graphics, you will find video clips, audio interviews, and live links to related material. The searching capacities of the online version means that topics of interest are easy to find within our vast library of back issues. And finally, our online publication will bring plenty of opportunities for you to interact with the material and join the conversation as we together learn from the past, engage the present and walk towards the future.
